TSAGARIS CONFECTIONERY

The traditional almond delicacies that Sophia Loren loved... when "The Child and the Dolphin" was filmed in Hydra - are still made by the same hands!

SINCE 1930

OUR PATH THROUGH TIME...

1930-1955: At the beginning of 1930, Aristidis Tsagaris opened the first pastry shop in Hydra applying the American way of preparing pasties, while also offering traditional ice cream, baklava, Hydrean almond-based delicacy “amygdalota”, Greek coffee, and dried octopus, tied with good ouzo and the famous FIX beer.

1955-1995: Dimitris Tsagaris, the founder's son, is now the successor. The confectionery is now moved to a separate location near the GARDENIA cinema, where it continues to be housed. There will also be the basis for the production of the now-famous Hydrean “amygdalota” under the care of Anna Tsagaris.

1995- 2020: The tradition continued with Kyriakos Tsagaris and his mother Anna Tsagaris.
2020-Today: The son of Kyriakos Tsagaris, Dimitris Tsagaris decided to take over his grandmother's and father's art.

91 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Behind the counter, the owner, Mr. Kyriakos Tsagaris, will serve you. Sometimes you will also meet his sweet mother, Mrs. Anna, who is the master of the almonds. Once, when we were lucky enough to watch her at work, she regaled us with stories of her time, when macaroons were a must-have treat at admirals' receptions and grand ladies' banquets.
